Appointment FAQ’s

On average, our home appointment visits will take approximately 30min to 60mins to complete.
Yes, your initial design consultation appointment is completely free of charge with no obligation.
During the design consultation appointment, we will assess your individual needs, offer solutions, discuss options, and measure your windows with precision and accuracy. Home visits are also a great opportunity to ask us any questions you may have – we’re here to help and offer advice..
Yes. We understand it isn’t always easy fitting in everything during the day around work, childcare and other commitments, so we do offer weekend and evening appointments (up to 8pm) if required. Please just let us know at the time of booking your appointment.
This will depend upon the time you contact us. We can in some circumstances come out to visit the same day, but as a general rule we can usually come out within a couple of days of the enquiry. As always we will try our best to accommodate all our customers needs.
Yes, we carry a full range of sample books.
No, there is no obligation to purchase the blinds. Your first appointment will include measuring the required space for blinds/shutters, then you will be given a quote. There is no charge for the initial measure and quote for the blinds or shutters.
Installation FAQ’s
Our lead times vary across our products. Our current estimated lead times are below:
Blinds – this can vary between 2-4 weeks, depending upon blind type. Most blinds are ready in 7-14 days. You will be advised at the time of your appointment depending on the blinds you have chosen, how long our current lead times are.
Shutters – for solid wood shutters leads times are 10-14 weeks. If lead times are a priority for you and you would like to get shutters installed in your home sooner, we do offer a uPVC option which has a shorter lead time of 5-7 weeks.
As we all know, there are sometimes factors beyond our control that can impact lead times. We will ensure to notify you if, for any reason, these lead times are extended beyond what is anticipated.
This will depend on the size of your order and what products we are installing for you. At the time of booking your installation date, we can discuss this with you.
All we require is a clear working space; ensuring all windows/doors are free from furniture and other items so our installers can work as efficiently as possible. We would also request that any previous window coverings also be taken down prior to installation.
We also kindly ask that any pets are secure during installation. This is to ensure your beloved pets and our installers safe.
Payment FAQ’s
If you would like to go ahead with your quotation, we require a 50% deposit with the remaining balance required on installation.
We currently accept cash or we can supply our bank details for a bank transfer (BACS). We will soon be accepting debit/credit card payments.
Yes, absolutely! Free fittings, free measuring are all part of our comprehensive service.
We don’t currently offer any finance schemes or payment plans. But this is something we’re looking into for the future.
General FAQ’s
Yes, we offer a 1 year guarantee on all of our blinds, a 5 year guarantee on shutters (not covered by misuse). We offer an excellent after sales service and will always go back and fix any problems.
The Onyx Blinds team cover a wide area, Leeds and beyond, carrying out home visits in a variety of locations including Harrogate, Wetherby, York, Pudsey, Garforth, Boston Spa, Yeadon, Otley, Guiseley, Tadcaster and everything in-between.
We have an increasing number of fabrics which are eco-friendly.
Yes, if you fill out our contact form with your measurements and also let us know the type of blinds you’d like, we can give you a rough estimate. It’s best to give as much detail as possible so we can make sure the estimate is as accurate as possible. If your happy with the estimate, we can then visit your home and confirm a quote & measurements with you.
